Pecan, Apple and Caramel Squares

Ingredients

  • 250 ml (1 cup) Selection all-purpose flour
  • 250 ml (1 cup) Selection Graham crumbs
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) brown sugar
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) Selection butter, cut into cubes
  • 2 x 100 g bags of Selection pecan halves
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) brown sugar
  • 160 ml (2/3 cup) Selection butter
  • 375 ml (1 1/2 cups) Selection dried apples, cut into pieces of about 1.5 cm (0.5 in)
  • 250 ml (1 cup) Selection semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, Graham crumbs, brown sugar and butter cubes with a fork. The preparation must become homogenous and grainy.
  2. Spread and press the preparation into a 23 x 33 cm (9 x 13 in) pan covered with parchment paper.
  3. Sprinkle pecans on the preparation.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  5. In a saucepan, bring the brown sugar and butter to a boil and let simmer for a minute.
  6. Pour the warm preparation on the pecans.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Right out of the oven, garnish with apple pieces and finish with the chocolate chips.
  9. Let stand in the refrigerator until everything is set, then cut it into squares.
